Lyle/Austin Pacelli vs. Goodhue
6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29

Goodhue stormed through last year's Class 1A state tournament field without being tested. The Wildcats' slimmest margin of victory came in the championship game, where they won by 25 points.

It was a run Goodhue nearly missed going on after struggling against Lyle/Austin Pacelli in the Section 1 semifinals.

Lyle/Austin Pacelli led 17 points with 9 minutes and 8 seconds to play in the second half of the game, but as the Athletics tried to run the clock out, the Wildcats pressed and clawed out a victory. Goodhue erased the deficit by holding Lyle/Austin Pacelli without a field goal the rest of the contest and capped the win when Megan Ryan sank a free throw with four seconds left.

The Athletics will surely have that finish in mind heading into Tuesday's matchup. To avenge the loss, they must find an answer for Sydney Lodermeier and Maddy Miller, who headline the No. 1-1A Wildcats' returners. Lodermeier averaged 16.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game last season while Miller averaged 13.2 ppg and 8 rpg.

Brooke Walter leads Lyle/Austin Pacelli after averaging 11 ppg and four steals per game last season, and the all-state honorable mention selection is joined by Kristi Fett (12 ppg, 9 rpg) in the Athletics' lineup.
