Minnehaha Academy vs. Holy Angels
7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1

Despite graduating all-state player Laura Bagwel-Katalinch, Holy Angels has reason to be optimistic about this season.

The No. 4-3A Stars (2-0) return Destinee Oberg (17 points per game this season), Megan Meyer (11 ppg) and Megan Thompson (7.5 ppg) from a 25-5 team that won the program's first state championship in 40 years.

Similarly, the No. 5-2A Redhawks are in position to record another solid campaign and are seeking their fourth consecutive state tournament appearance this year.

Sarah Kaminski graduated after earning all-state honorable mention while helping Minnehaha Academy finish 25-4 overall, but the team welcomes back Terra and Taytum Rhoades and opened the year with a 68-57 victory at Dover-Eyota on Nov. 25. The Redhawks followed it with a 76-57 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa a day later as freshman Mia Curtis led the team with 24 points.
