Shakopee at Lakeville South
7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2

Before No. 1-4A Shakopee plays its biggest game of the year against No. 2-4A Hopkins on Thursday, the Sabers get to face a pesky Lakeville South team that's been making life hard on other top teams in the South Suburban Conference.

The Cougars (11-6, 5-5) may not have the prettiest record, but they have been a tough bunch, coming up just short in a 50-45 loss to No. 3-4A Eastview and recording wins over Eagan, Apple Valley and No. 6-4A Lakeville North in the past two weeks.

Lakeville South will need a big performance from senior and leading scorer Brianna Miller (14.9 ppg) if it hopes to keep pace with Shakopee and its star, North Carolina commit Taylor Koenen.

A 6-foot-2 senior, Koenen paces the Sabers with 20.6 ppg, but gets help from senior Caleigh Rodning (13.4 ppg), a Southwest Minnesota State commit, and junior Mateya Hutton (9.9 ppg).
