Winona at Rochester Mayo
7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30

In a matchup of two of southeastern Minnesota's best, No. 9-4A Rochester Mayo hosts No. 2-3A Winona in a Big 9 Conference clash that could be a factor in determining the eventual league champion.

The conference-leading Spartans (14-2, 10-2) were cruising through league play since a loss to crosstown rival Rochester John Marshall on Dec. 18, but a setback at Owatonna last week opens the door for the Winhawks (12-3, 9-3), who sit in third place, to shake up the top of the standings.

Anna Winter, a 6-foot-1 senior, and 5-foot-10 junior Olivia Korngable are Mayo's heavy hitters, while Winona features senior Hallee Hoeppner and juniors Eden Nibbelink and North Dakota State commit, junior Danneka Voegeli.
