Minnetonka at Elk River
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28

Minnetonka (13-3, 3-0) surely turned a few heads with last week's 67-59 win over Lake Conference foe No. 1-4A Hopkins, and the No. 6-4A Skippers face another top-10 team with a trip to Elk River on Thursday with a chance to extend a 10-game winning streak.

Leading Minnetonka are two seniors bound for Division I schools in the fall. UW-Milwaukee commit Lizzie Odegard averages 11.6 ppg while Wisconsin commit Courtney Fredrickson posts 15.2 ppg to pace the Skippers.

The No. 7-4A Elks (12-3, 7-0) are coming off of an equally big conference win after slowing down Osseo 59-44 on Jan. 19 in a cross-division matchup, leaving no more teams unbeaten in Northwest Suburban Conference play.

With seven straight wins, Elk River, much like Minnetonka, is also a team starting to play its best basketball of the season at just the right time.

Abi Scheid is the Elks' top threat, as the 6-foot-3 Northwestern commit scores 18.9 ppg. Scheid and Elk River continue to put a few early season setbacks against the likes of Hopkins and No. 4-4A St. Michael-Albertville in the rearview mirror.
