Osseo at Elk River
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19

Osseo has some big wins this season and plays in one of the state's tougher leagues, the Northwest Suburban Conference, but somehow it still hasn't cracked the Class 4A top-10 rankings.

The Orioles may finally do so with a win over league rival Elk River on Tuesday in a matchup of teams with unblemished league records.

Osseo (12-2, 6-0) features Arizona State commit Kiara Russell, a 5-foot-7 senior guard who averages 24.7 ppg and has a state-best 346 points this season.

A team with top talent itself, the  No. 8-4A Elks (10-3, 6-0) are a battle-tested squad with 6-foot-3 senior and Northwestern commit Abi Scheid leading the way (19.8 ppg).

While losses to No. 1-4A Hopkins, No. 3-4A St. Michael-Albertville and formerly-ranked Park Center soured the first half of the season, Elk River has rattled off five straight wins by holding opponents to just 50.2 ppg.
