Hopkins at Minnetonka

Hopkins can sew up the Lake Conference title with a win over either Wayzata on Feb. 24 or Minnetonka on Feb. 27, while the Skippers can cement the second seed in the Class 4A, Section 6 playoffs with a win over the Royals.

No. 1-4A Hopkins (22-1, 6-0), which has won 18 consecutive games, has three lauded stars in senior guard T.T. Starks (13.2 ppg) and junior guards Nia Hollie (15.5 ppg) and Ashley Bates (14.1 ppg).

But the Royals are also considerably deep, getting quality play from senior guard Viria Livingston (8 ppg), junior guard Evelyn Knox (6.4 ppg) and junior forward Liz Bulver (6 ppg). All three players have had at least one game with 14 points or more this season.

Minnetonka boasts a balanced offense led by junior forward Courtney Fredrickson (16 ppg) and senior guard Caroline Shelquist (11 ppg). Nine players have scored in double digits at least once this season for the No. 4-4A Skippers (20-4, 5-2), who enter the week riding a three-game winning streak. 

Hopkins won the first meeting of the season with Minnetonka 70-55 on Jan. 23 behind 26 points from Bates. Fredrickson finished with 21 for the Skippers.
