Woodbury at St. Paul Como Park

There may be no player in the state who is quietly having a bigger season than St. Paul Como Park’s Andrayah Adams.

The 5-foot-8 junior guard has the third-most points in the state (501) and her 29.5 points-per-game average is a mere four-tenths of a percentage point off the mark held by the state's leader Lindsey Theuninck (29.9 ppg) of Mankato Loyola.

Adams, who reportedly has offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan, Rutgers, DePaul, Arizona State and South Carolina, broke her own school record with 46 points in the Cougars' 107-94 loss to Maranatha Christian Academy on Jan. 31.

And Adams can do more than score. She averages 8.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Adams could be in for another record-setting performance against a Woodbury team allowing 51.8 points per game.

If the Royals stifle Adams, the Cougars have a second viable scoring option in freshman guard Mikayla VanNett (11.7 ppg).

Eight players have scored 10 or more points in a game for Woodbury (9-7) this season, including freshman guard Rachel Hakes, who scored 21 in a 62-56 loss to Robbinsdale Armstrong on Jan. 20. Hakes (10.2 ppg) leads the Royals in scoring and teams with sophomore forward Ellie Kreibich (7.8 ppg) to spearhead Woodbury's youth movement. The Royals have 12 underclassmen on the varsity roster.
