Hill-Murray at Mahtomedi
7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6

Hill-Murray currently holds the top spot in the Metro East Conference, but Mahtomedi is closing in on the Pioneers' position.

The Zephyrs are in second place in the standings after winning their last five league games.

No. 5-3A Hill-Murray (14-3, 9-0) has been a mainstay in the Class 3A rankings all season and features a high-scoring trio that hasn’t had any problems lighting up the scoreboard. Senior guards Lindsey Malecha (20.4 ppg) and Olivia Graskewicz (14.6 ppg) run the backcourt, while junior forward Sami Schneider (10.7 ppg) leads the frontcourt.

Mahtomedi (13-4, 7-1) has experience playing in close games. The Zephyrs have won six of their 13 games by 10 points or less. Senior forward Ali Greene (18.7 ppg), sophomore guard Marisa Gustafson (11.9 ppg) and freshman guard Emma Grothaus (10.6 ppg) lead Mahtomedi in scoring.

The Zephyrs have a little extra to play for in this matchup. They are 0-9 against the Pioneers over the last four years, including a 66-43 loss on Jan. 9.
