Centennial at Andover
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5

Centennial is No. 10 in Class 4A thanks to its performances against ranked teams, including victories over No. 2-3A Park Center (69-68) and a then-No. 10-4A Eden Prairie (63-54), and a close loss to No. 5-4A Elk River (78-74).

The Cougars (12-2), however, have struggled in the Northwest Suburban Conference North Division, where they are in fifth place with a 2-4 record.

A victory over Andover might get Centennial back on track in the division.

The Huskies (12-6, 5-1) are in second place in the standings and defeated the Cougars 69-58 on Dec. 9, their first win in the last nine games against Centennial.

The key to Andover's success is b alance, as nine players have scored at least 10 points in a game. Four Huskies have finished with 17 or more points, including sophomore guard Jolene Daninger, who had 27 in a 54-51 victory over Duluth East on Jan. 10. Daninger leads the team in scoring at 13.6 ppg.

Senior guard Jaycie Gerding (15.8 ppg) and sophomore center Sarah Grow (10.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg) give the Cougars a solid inside/outside combination.
