Champlin Park at Centennial

Centennial puts its newly acquired Class 4A top-10 ranking on the line when the Cougars host Northwest Suburban Conference North Division rival Champlin Park in a rematch of last season’s Class 4A, Section 5 final.

Centennial won that game 61-43 to advance to the state tournament, and the teams could be headed for another postseason matchup, depending on how the section seeding plays out. That seeding will be determined in part by the outcome of the game on Jan. 27.

The No. 9 Cougars (12-4, 2-2) are on a seven-game winning streak that includes a 50-34 victory over Maple Grove on Jan. 8.

Senior guard Jaycie Gerding (16.0 ppg) and sophomore center Sarah Grow (9.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg) are Centennial's top scorers.

The Rebels (9-7, 3-2) have four losses to ranked teams - No. 5-4A Elk River, No. 1-4A Hopkins and two to No. 2-3A Park Center - and a victory over the Cougars could give Champlin Park some confidence heading into the postseason. Junior center Hanna Crymble (13.6 ppg) and sophomore guard Allison Gerads (13.6 ppg) lead the Rebels.
