Mounds View at Roseville
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20

Roseville's recent hot streak could be cooled by Mounds View when the teams meet in a Suburban East Conference matchup on Jan. 20.

No. 7-4A Roseville (12-1) has enjoyed success over Mounds View in recent years, defeating the Mustangs in every meeting during the last four seasons.

The Raiders enter the game riding an 11-game winning streak, but Mounds View is still a dangerous team despite its 9-6 record.

The Mustangs boast one of the state's top scorers in senior guard Jacky Volkert (19.3 ppg), and five players have scored 15 or more points in a game this season. Sophomore guard Erin Saemrow (12.9 ppg) showed she can alleviate some of the pressure opposing teams put on Volkert with a 24-point performance in a loss to Maple Grove on Jan. 15.

A victory may not move Mounds View up in the league standings, where they are in second place, but it would knock Roseville out of a first-place tie with White Bear Lake.

Senior forward Monica Burich (17.5 ppg) leads the Raiders (12-1) on offense, while sophomore guard Kaia Porter (9.5 ppg) is a second scoring option.
