Hopkins at Eden Prairie
7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16

Hopkins was ranked No. 2 in Class 4A preseason poll, and the Royals have lived up to the billing. No. 1-4A Hopkins (12-1) has steamrolled opponent after opponent, with one exception: Eastview. The then-No. 1-4A Lightning defeated the Royals 75-70 on Dec. 6. Hopkins responded by going on its current eight-game winning streak. The run includes a game against No. 10-4A Edina on Jan. 9 in which the Royals showed off their might by cruising to a dominant 67-30 win over the Hornets.

Hopkins' offense features a high-scoring trio of guards in senior T.T. Starks (14.2 ppg), and juniors Ashley Bates (14.5 ppg) and Nia Hollie (13.1 ppg). The rest of the Royals lineup is equally as dangerous with six players each finishing at least one with 10 or more points.

Eden Prairie (8-4) has a chance to prove it is one of the top teams in Class 4A with a win against Hopkins. To pull off the upset, the Eagles need to improve from the free-throw line, where they’re shooting just 70 percent.

Senior forward Emma Boehm (15.9 ppg) and junior guard Esabelle Levine (10.6 ppg) pace the Eagles.
