Lakeville South at Edina
7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6

Edina last made the state tournament in 2012, and this year’s team gives the Hornets their best shot to make it back.

No. 5-4A Edina (3-0) has a 1-2 scoring punch that rivals any of the state's top scoring combos. Sophomore forward Annika Jank (20 points per game) gives the Hornets a scoring presence on the inside, and senior guard Jill Morton (16.7 ppg) balances the act with her outside scoring. Jank and Morton combined for 40 points in Edina’s most recent victory, a 50-35 win at Stillwater.

Lakeville South has three players averaging 10.0 points or more, led by junior forward Brianna Miller’s 13.5 average.

Miller may lead the Cougars (1-1) in scoring, but senior forward Morgan Cuffe and junior guard Mariah Douville have proven they can't be overlooked on offense. The pair were the stars of Lakeville South's 76-46 win over Bloomington Kennedy. Cuffe scored 17 points and Douville added 16 in the winning effort.
