This game matches the two top teams in Class 2A, with top-ranked Plainview-Elgin-Millville (2-0) taking on second-ranked Chatfield in a showdown that carries substantial weight in terms of conference and sectional significance. 

 

Both teams are members of the Three Rivers Conference, where Chatfield finished first and Plainview-Elgin-Millville finished second last season, and both teams are in Section 1.

 

Plainview-Elgin-Millville has four players averaging 10.0 points per game or more, led by junior forward Chloe Holtz (15.0 ppg). 

 

Chatfield's senior guard Kirsten Keefe and junior guard Sydney Gould lead the Gophers (4-0). Keefe finished with 21 points and Gould had 14 in Chatfield's 58-55 victory at Lake City in the season opener Dec. 1. 

 

Plainview-Elgin-Millville dispatched Chatfield 61-58 in last year’s Section 1 semifinals.
