Minnehaha Academy at Holy Angels
7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2

Minnehaha Academy has been been to the Class 2A state tournament six of the last seven seasons, winning a title in 2010 and finishing in second the following year.

Holy Angels' last appearance at the state tournament was in 2005, when the Stars ended the year as Class 3A's runner-up.

The two begin the hunt for a return trip when they face off Tuesday.

Junior guard Sarah Kaminski (17.5 points per game) and senior post Lilly Thomey (7.2 ppg) return from a Redhawks' team that went 20-7 last season. Minnehaha Academy is ranked No. 3 in the preseason poll.

Holy Angels has a core group of sophomores and juniors who all have plenty of experience, including Laura Bagwell-Katalinich. The junior forward averaged 15.4 points per game and could help fill the leadership role left by the departure of leading scorer Kate Banovetz. Senior guard Kara Mae Caron (6.7 ppg) should also help carry the scoring load.
